Company History
The R.A. Siegel Company was founded by Rudolph A. Siegel in 1950.
Siegel attended Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, where he acquired his life-long nickname, "Pop". After graduating from Georgia Tech, "Pop" Siegel went to work for the Armstrong Cork Company where he was a sales representative in the Flooring Division and later became Vice President of Sales. In 1950 he purchased the Atlanta, Chattanooga and Knoxville branches of the J.J. Haines & Company. Under his leadership, The R.A. Siegel Company increased sales eight fold by the time Siegel passed away in November, 1973. As an acknowledged leader in the floor covering industry, "Pop" Siegel published several books and papers on distributor selling and was recognized in the community as an active church and civic leader.
Upon R.A. Siegel's sudden death, his sons, both graduates of Yale, assumed leadership positions within the company. Chip Siegel was named Executive Vice President, General Sales Manager and Chairman, and later elected to President and Chief Executive Officer. John Siegel was named Vice President and Treasurer and eventually Chairman after his retirement from active duty.
After 47 years, The R.A. Siegel Company resigned as an Armstrong distributor and became a marketer of the Mannington Family of Floors, Vinyl, Wood and Laminate. In 1999, the company was assigned territory for Mannington in Central and Northern Florida and opened a branch in Groveland, Florida.
Before Chip Siegel's death in July, 2004, he was actively involved in many charities, the community, and served on many boards. Chip's goal was to live his life as he ran his company, through servant leadership.
Today the Siegel legacy continues with Charles Siegel Jr. and John Siegel actively involved serving as members of the Board of Directors. We continue to look to expand our services and products in an effort to meet the growing needs of our customers.
